Sector: Community Organisation
We are looking to expand representation on the Board of Trustees and have vacancies for new Trustee roles. These new Trustees will join our existing team.
This is a great opportunity to bring your knowledge and expertise to Peak District Mosaic’s Board of Trustees, to contribute to the direction of our organisation. You will help to strengthen the team and be proactive in the governance and development of the charity, to make a real, tangible and lasting difference to participants who become involved in Peak District Mosaic’s activities/events.
You don’t have to have been a Trustee before. We are looking for people who are passionate about the outdoor environment and enjoy working with people. Life experience, volunteering, community involvement and personal passion are valued as much as work-based knowledge and skills.
We welcome applications from people who have a lived experience – with an understanding of working with or have worked with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities and the importance this brings to building a sustainable organisation that is truly beneficial for the needs of the community.
We are undergoing an exciting period of development with our new project, Championing National Parks for Everyone, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. This project aims to expand our work and is being developed in partnership with the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Peak District National Parks. We are therefore interested in receiving applications from people living in these National Parks or areas near to them, including Greater Manchester, Bradford, Leeds, Middlesbrough and South Yorkshire.
We generally expect Trustees to serve for a minimum term of three years. You will be required to attend bi-monthly scheduled meetings of the Board of Trustees, Committee meetings and some ad hoc meetings. Our bi-monthly Trustee meetings are held either in person in the Peak District on a Saturday daytime, or held on a weekday in the evenings online (via GoogleMeet)
We are now advertising for three roles with specific skills and responsibilities to build our team. Please see the attached role descriptions for the three specific trustee roles;
Member of Activities and Communications committee – We are looking for people with a passion for delivering opportunities for people to visit the Peak District to join our Activities and Communications Committee who are responsible for overseeing, managing and promoting the schedule of group activities in the Peak District National Park and surrounding areas. You can read the Role Description here.
Secretary – someone with strong administrative skills who can work with the Chairperson to organise and minute board meetings, and support the overall administration of the charity. You can read the Role Description here.
Treasurer – our current Treasurer is stepping down in 2026, and our new Treasurer will work with the charity’s existing Finance and Business Planning committee to maintain an overview of Peak District Mosaic’s financial affairs. You can read the Role Description here.
There is also a general “Vacancies for Trustees” document you should read before applying, which provides further details about Peak District Mosaic, expectations of the Trustee role and information on how to apply. You can read that here.
If you have any queries, please contact Peak District Mosaic’s Chairperson, Yvonne Witter, at chair@peakdistrictmosaic.org
Closing date for applications: Monday 1st December 2025 by 12 noon, to chair@peakdistrictmosaic.org

About the Role As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in the governance and strategic direction of Sense. You will work alongside a diverse and committed Board to ensure the charity continues to deliver high-quality, person-centred support to disabled people with complex needs.
We are looking to recruit up to four new Trustees to join our Board. The Board meets a minimum of four times a year in person — twice in Birmingham and twice in London — with an annual away day, which may be residential. Meetings are held during the working day and typically last around 6 hours, including breaks.
In addition to Board meetings, you will also join at least one of the following committees, which meet online four times a year, online, in the lead-up to each Board meeting:
Finance and Audit Committee Operations Committee Engagement Committee Nominations and Remuneration Committee As Sense is both a registered charity and a company, Trustees also serve as Company Directors, with names publicly listed at Companies House and the Charity Commission.
Expertise and knowledge and experience We are particularly looking for the following experience for new trustees;
Finance Social Care Campaigning Fundraising Safeguarding Your Impact As a Trustee, you will help shape Sense’s strategic priorities, hold leadership to account, and act as a champion for the values and mission of the organisation. You will also have the opportunity to engage with Sense’s services directly, visit local centres or shops, and see first-hand the difference we make.
Access and Inclusion We are committed to making this opportunity fully accessible. Sense will cover all reasonable adjustments required to enable disabled people to fully participate as Trustees. We recognise that needs may change over time, and we are prepared to provide ongoing support and flexibility.
We strongly encourage applications from disabled people and women, as well as individuals from other underrepresented backgrounds, to help us build a more diverse and inclusive Board.
If you’re ready to use your experience, insight or passion to help break down barriers and make a real difference, we would love to hear from you.
About Sense Every disabled person should have the opportunity to connect with others and be included in the world. Which is why we’re here, in people’s homes, centres and communities, focusing on the things a person can do, not what they can’t. We celebrate the moments of connection that bring more joy to life. Together, we always find a way, no matter how many barriers a person might face.
Sense is a leading disability charity with extensive knowledge and expertise in delivering personalised, creative and flexible support for disabled people with complex needs. Our tailored approach ensures that every person is empowered to live fully at every stage of life.
This is an exciting time to join Sense as we continue to deliver our bold strategy, guided by our vision of a world without limits for disabled people with complex needs. As a Trustee, you will help shape and support Sense on this journey, ensuring our plans are ambitious, inclusive and achievable. You will play a key role in guiding the organisation’s future direction, ensuring our strategy reflects the voices and experiences of the people we support and that our work continues to deliver lasting impact.
