JOB OPPORTUNITY: ARTS YOUNG TRUSTEE PROGRAMME FACILITATOR

Grace Jeremy

21 July 2022

We’re looking for someone experienced in arts sector charity governance to facilitate our exciting Young Trustee Training Programme!

ROLE OVERVIEW

This role is an exciting opportunity to facilitate our Young Trustee Accelerator Programme, which aims to train young trustees who are placed on the boards of Arts organisations.

This programme will be an Arts specific version of this programme (which is not aimed at any specific sector) We are looking for someone experienced in arts charity governance to run sessions for the young cohort, answering their governance questions and helping them work through case studies. You will be paired with an experienced facilitator and youth worker, so there is an opportunity to gain training skills on the job if this is not your background.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shadow at least 2 of the sessions of our Board Boost programme, to become familiar with what your role would be like

    • These are held at 5:30-8pm on 13th Sept, 27th Sept, 11th Oct, and 25th Oct.
    • You will be paid for however many you attend, plus debrief / question time.
  • Work with the Young Trustees Movement to develop your confidence and knowledge around facilitating the sessions

  • Facilitate 5 sessions in Spring/Summer 2023

    • These will be the same as the sessions you observe in Sept-Oct 2022.
    • The sessions will be held on an evening with a fortnight between each- specific dates will be designed with the successful candidate.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

This role would be great for someone who:

  • Embodies our values (see here)
  • Can commit to shadowing at least two of the 2022 sessions, and leading 5 fortnightly sessions in spring/summer 2023.
  • Has a good experience and understanding of charity governance, especially within the arts sector.
  • Has experience of working in a leadership team
  • Experience of working with young people or facilitating groups is desirable but not essential. You will be paired with someone who has this experience, and who is also a young trustee to allow for intergenerational representation.

We are particularly looking to recruit someone who is currently under-represented within governance. In this role however, it is not a requirement to share/disclose your lived experiences of oppression (unless it feels right to you). The reason why we are asking for this, is because having lived-experience of being someone who is not typically represented within governance, is a perspective that enables a powerful  facilitation of this space. Please let us know if you have any questions about this.

LOGISTICS

  • Salary £500/day
  • Shadow at least two of the 2022 sessions (0.75-1.5 days work depending on how many you attend)
  • Work 5 days in 2023 to prepare for, facilitate, and debrief the sessions
