This summer Young Trustees Movement is proud to be partnering with King’s College London on a pilot programme which will equip thirty Kings students who are interested in trusteeship with the skills and knowledge they need to be able to enter a trustee role.
Over the course of three weeks, the Student Trustee Training Programme will take students through the fundamentals of trusteeship, helping them to identify and articulate what great governance looks like in theory and in practice. Participants will hear from a representative of the university’s Council about how governance at the institution works – as well as getting application tips from Peridot Partners, a recruitment company specialising in trustee and CEO appointments.
Laura Beswick, Head of Volunteering at King’s College London, said: “This collaboration with Young Trustees Movement has brought about enriching and exciting opportunities for our students to learn tangible skills and apply them in a real-world setting. We are thrilled at the interest shown by King’s students to complete the programme and enter the world of trusteeship.”
Head of Delivery & Movement Building Vondy Thornton said: “With recent Charity Commission data telling us that just 1% of trustees in the UK are aged 30 or under, getting young people into governance has never been more crucial. We’re incredibly excited to be delivering this training to King’s College students to ensure they are properly set up to apply for their first trustee role.”

I’m really excited to deliver this programme and to hear how students from different disciplines engage with the world of charity governance.”
